THE CLUB CAR
Logo Design • Poster Design • Email Design
The Club Car was an events and performance venue within The McKittrick Hotel. I was tasked with designing the Club Car logo, as well as posters for many of the shows that took place within the Club Car over the years.
Club Car Logo
The McKittrick Hotel exists in the world of 1939 New York, so I created a logo that would make sense in that era.
My goal was to have some art-deco elegance, without looking too serious or inaccessible. The italic font in the angled oval evokes a sense of dynamism – like anything could happen here. The tall, geometric font, with decorative detailing conveys the feeling of luxury that The McKittrick Hotel strives for in all of its properties.
At The Illusionist’s Table
As a magic show, I created this poster to be intentionally vague and mysterious. Viewers’ eyes gravitate toward the silhouette of Scott Silven, the host of this mentalist magic and dinner experience. The lack of color in the poster adds to the sense of mystery.
Flight
A tale of hope and despair as two young refugees make their way across Europe in search of a safe haven. Seagulls are a recurring motif in their journey, representing both their highest highs and lowest lows. Here, I used the silhouettes of the two brothers in the seagull’s wings – one brother sullen, and the other hopeful.
The Lost Supper
An email for The Lost Supper, a surrealist dinner party taking place in the Club Car. The font and checkerboard envelope are a nod to the Club Car, while the Magritte-esqe clouds and spiral showcase the show’s bizarre elements. The key in the wax seal suggests that the viewer has the ability to open the keyhole in the invitation.
